Pilates And Yoga Combination Class This Thursday November 8th

It’s been a tough election season with both sides battling it out. Well for most of us here in Oregon the ballots are in and the tough choices have been made. Hooray! You no longer have to decide between…..Pilates or Yoga.

You know your girlfriend who claims Pilates is “too slow” for her and she ONLY does Bikram Yoga? How bout your Pilates devotee who thinks Yoga is for skinny 19 year olds?

Can’t we all just get along?

Yes!

Join Anne this Thursday November 8th at Sellwood Yoga from 7:30 to 8:45 pm for an exploration of Pilates and Yoga. There is much crossover between the two – the focus on breathing and alignment, creating dynamic fluid movements, strengthening and lengthening your muscles and improving your balance just to name a few

We start with Pilates stabilization exercises to wake up the small muscles that support your spine. We then flow through a vinyasa style yoga series to build strength and flexibility and improve your balance. We finish with a specific flexibility program to loosen hips and shoulders and a short guided meditation.

Space is limited. To reserve your spot head over to Sellwood Yoga’s website. Drop ins welcome, preregistration is encouraged. This class is suitable for all levels.

  • Pilates/ Yoga Combo Class
  • Thursday November 8th, 7:30 – 8:45 pm
  • Sellwood Yoga 7970B SE 13th Ave (across the street from Grand Central)
  • All levels welcome

Maui 2012 Recap

This is part two of my recap of our Maui Adventure 2012.

Ok I promised some details about the food. My buddy Laura cooked up some awesome eats for us. One of the things I love about Maui is the abundance of fresh fruit. We started the day with some combination of oranges, pineapple, kiwi, apples, papaya, we even had fresh coconut juice – fresh as in we watched the girl at the veggie stand whack off the top of the coconut with a machete and stick a straw in it. After our morning workout Laura had eggs, oatmeal, fresh coffee and smoothies waiting for us.

Here we are on the Lanai enjoying breakfast and whale watching.

I mentioned that we had a little rain in the first part of the week. Our Luau at Feast at LeLe actually got rained out, but not until after we had a cocktail and a plate of Kahlua Pork, poi, taro chips and salsa, fresh fish with a tropical fruit sauce.

Before the first performance the rain started and they cancelled the Luau. Everyone ran for cover except for us and the table of Canadians behind us. We refused to leave until we polished off our drinks and food. I have never seen someone laugh so hard as Leslie under her poncho. I thought she and Kathy were going to fall out of their chairs.

Keep reading for more on our adventure…
